It is with great pleasure that I welcome each of you to American Academy Casablanca. As we begin the 2017-18 school year I would like to highlight two key initiatives that AAC will focus on this year: The continuation of Project-based learning focus and the implementation of the Tribes Program. After spending the first two weeks of August going through the Tribes professional development training I feel this program has great potential to impact our learning community in powerful ways.
Project-based learning gives students opportunities to Think Differently about curriculum and apply knowledge and skills to larger concepts that will lead them to engage in what we call the 5Cs of 21st Century learning outcomes: Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Community, and Communication.
This is what your learning experiences will be like at American Academy. You will be challenged, you will be expected to work hard, and through Tribes you will grow in many wonderful ways. Our teachers, staff and administrators are here to help and guide you through your journey. We believe in YOU and we will help you learn to explore your potential to become the best version of yourself.
For the next couple of weeks, please make sure you take advantage of the opportunity to purchase the school uniform and supplies that you will need. Students in Grades 9-12 will be required to have a laptop (see policies and specifications on website) Middles School students Grades 6 - 8 are required to have a technology device (tablet, ipad, or laptop) that meets the specifications (see Parent Student Handbook also on the website)
Looking forward to super exciting year and I hope you will join me in helping AAC realize its fullest potential so that we can help you reach yours.
